With patients around the country eager to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, some may be susceptible to scams in their effort to get the shot.
As quickly as the vaccines were approved, scammers wasted no time targeting seniors. In addition to helping administer the vaccine, community pharmacies can also play a critical role in protecting patients from deception. CMS and HHS have joined forces in an effort to help protect the vulnerable. The government agencies have designed a flyer that pharmacies can print and post to help educate patients, so they don’t become victims of vaccine scams.
The RedSail Hub is live! The Hub is a centralized location for all things QS/1. It’s an intuitive, in-depth, customer-friendly portal that provides content and materials relevant to you and the products you use every day. Benefits of the portal include the ability to search, to create and track support cases, and to interact with other customers. Access to the new Hub requires registration. If you haven’t already signed up, go to redsailtechnologies.com/hub and complete the form.
If you’d like a walk-through of the new Hub, plan to join us for the interactive webinar "Get Started with RedSail Hub" at 1:30 PM (ET) on any of the four Wednesdays in February.
The webinar will provide an overview of first steps and main features of using the new support portal – including support-case management and the new customer forum. There will also be time for Q&A, so make sure to bring your questions!
TIRF REMS Access Changes
If your pharmacy uses the Transmucosal Immediate Release Fentanyl (TIRF) Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program, you will need to make changes to continue dispensing TIRF medications beginning March 29, 2021. To re-certify, the pharmacy must review the modified education program, successfully complete the knowledge assessment, and complete the outpatient pharmacy enrollment form. TIRF medicines contain fentanyl, an opioid agonist and a Schedule II controlled substance, with an abuse liability like other opioid analgesics.
QS/1 recently released Service Pack 19.1.34. We encourage you to download and install it at your earliest convenience to receive the latest software enhancements. Here is a sample of what’s included:
To provide pharmacies using delivery totes a way to prevent an NDC from being changed on a fill after the tote for that item has been scanned and closed in the Delivery Queue, the Allow TX NDC Change after Tote Closed field has been added to Store Control > Store Level Options > Delivery Information. Use this option to give or limit access to update a transaction for a prescription.
You can now send the date sold information to PMPs. For state compliancy, NRx has been updated to send the date sold for all classes of drugs for state code NE4.
