Integra is excited to share that, in partnership with Guardian Pharmacy of Indianapolis, we have launched Axys – the industry’s newest long-term care pharmacy software.
Early feedback has been extremely positive, but don’t just take our word for it!
“This system has been designed with the user in mind – it’s fast, intuitive, and easy to use, enhancing our productivity, which in turn allows us to focus our energy on resident care and customer service.” – Bryce McCoy, Data Entry Supervisor
As Integra continues to develop Axys, we will roll out to selected sites over the coming months. Check out the press release to learn more.
Pfizer plans to ask for FDA approval this fall for the first respiratory syncytial virus vaccine after clinical trials showed it to be 85.7% effective in preventing severe disease among adults 60 and older. Currently, there isn't an authorized vaccine or treatment for RSV, a common virus that causes cold-like symptoms but can be deadly for the elderly. Other drugmakers involved in the race to develop a vaccine include GSK, Johnson & Johnson, and Moderna.

The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), representing more than 14,000 nursing homes and assisted living communities across the U.S., requested that HHS extend the public health emergency (PHE) declaration beyond its October 13, 2022, expiration date. They also asked for revamped COVID guidance for healthcare settings. As the pandemic evolves and case counts increase, it’s important that healthcare providers are prepared to serve the most vulnerable and that the federal government doesn’t let its guard down during an ongoing public health crisis.
President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act on August 16, which includes legislation that expands adult vaccine access. Starting January 1, 2023, all Medicare Part D plans will be required to cover all ACIP-recommended vaccines with no cost sharing. Beginning October 1, 2023, all state Medicaid programs will be required to do the same. These policies will give access to ACIP-recommended vaccines to nearly all U.S. adults with no out-of-pocket expense. Immunization uptake may increase as the cost-sharing barrier is removed.
For some NewRx messages, Surescripts determined possible mismatched information between the NDC and Drug Description for Paxlovid. The NDC transmitted is for the original, full dose pack, but the Drug Description indicates reduced dosing for patients with certain levels of renal failure. At this time, there’s no awareness of harm to patients, but this issue is being treated as a potential patient safety issue.
