Recently, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services announced it will incentivize health plans to establish a program where people with private health plan coverage can obtain over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 tests with no up-front cost. The new coverage requirement means most consumers with private health coverage can go online or to a pharmacy, buy a test, and either get it paid for up front by their health plan or get reimbursed for the cost by submitting a claim to their plan.
In programs where a pharmacy agrees to process real-time claims, the information on the Hub is expected to apply. The existence of such a program does not necessarily prohibit the pharmacy from selling OTC tests and providing a receipt for the patient to submit to their health plan unless agreed to in a contract. The California Department of Justice (DOJ) awarded Bamboo Health the contract for prescription data collection services for the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES). Health & Safety Code section 11165(d) requires dispensing pharmacies, clinics, or other dispensers to report prescription dispensation data to the DOJ.
Registration for Bamboo Health’s PMP Clearinghouse opened on January 1, 2022. If you have not completed the registration process yet, we encourage you to, so you're prepared to begin submitting data to the new PMP Clearinghouse system on February 9, 2022.
Want your PCs to share a printer without compromising compliance? If so, we have a fix for you! Any Lexmark™ T652DN or T652N or higher is equipped with a network interface card. So, all you need is an ethernet cable (also known as a Cat5e cable). Once you connect the ethernet cable from the printer to your switch or router, the printer will automatically obtain an IP address. This IP address allows the printer to be added to any workstation without the aid of Windows sharing ports.
When you connect the proper cable and the printer is re-added, it will change the printer’s name. To ensure printer functionality with the client, you have two options.
Update the client so the network printer name matches the new printer's name found at Windows Start button > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
Rename the network printer name found at Windows Start button > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners by selecting the new printer. Then, select Manage > Printer properties and change the name to match the name in the client.
