CMS Requires Part D Plans Support SCRIPT Standard 2017071
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule requiring that Part D prescription drug plans support the electronic prior authorization transaction standard in NCPDP® SCRIPT Standard Version 2017071. This policy change will be enforced starting on January 1, 2022, to help ensure there are secure electronic transactions between prescribers and Part D plan sponsors and that patients will not experience delays when receiving their prescriptions.
