Submit RSV Vaccinations to Medicare Part D

Is your pharmacy immunizing for RSV? Remember, for Medicare patients, these vaccines are covered under Medicare Part D, not Medicare Part B. Part B will deny the claim if submitted. Instead, submit RSV vaccine claims to the patient’s Part D PBM. (If the claim is rejected as non-covered or non-formulary, contact the PBM. Some are still updating their formularies.) For patients who are not on Medicare, check coverage with their specific plan to inquire if it should be billed under the pharmacy or medical side.

+ UPS Full Integration Update

The PioneerRx UPS full integration is now available. The updated integration will allow PioneerRx to update tracking information every morning for all packages that have been delivered and auto-complete the transaction with the updated delivery information.

+ Add NADAC Column to Price Check Function

The NADAC Price column is now visible in the Rx Item Price Check Substitutions and Combine Price Quote display grid.

The Rx Item Price Check tool can be helpful when quoting a patient or reviewing store pricing calculations. This addition will allow the pharmacy to quickly reference pricing elements such as Cost, AWP, and NADAC when reviewing their pricing.

+ Add Is Hazardous Drug Y/N to Rx Queue Waiting for Fill

The Is Hazardous Drug column is now available on the Rx Queue grid. This column will not be on any views by default and must be manually added via the Column Chooser if needed.

Some Rx Items can be hazardous and may require special handling. Now users will be able to see which items in the queue are hazardous so they can be sure they are prepared to handle the item before advancing workflow.

+ Added Calendar and Anniversary Toggle Options to Cycle Fill and Cycle Fill Billing

We have added a Calendar and Anniversary toggle option to the top of the Cycle Fill page for Cycle Fill and the Billing page for Cycle Fill Billing.

The toggle allows pharmacies to quickly sort between a Calendar or Anniversary search, easily adjust the contents of the application specific to the Cycle Fill type, and sort grid content more accurately, specifically for the Cycle Fill type.

Class-Action Suit Filed Against CVS, Caremark, Aetna to Recover DIR Fees

Independent pharmacist Matt Osterhaus (Osterhaus Pharmacy, Maquoketa, IA) has filed a class action lawsuit against vertically consolidated CVS Health, Caremark, and Aetna that aims to recoup for all independent pharmacies millions of dollars in what his lawyers say are wrongfully assessed pharmacy DIR fees for Medicare Part D prescriptions.

New Bill Could Limit Pharmacists Dispensing Mifepristone

A group of conservative Republicans in the House of Representatives’ proposed Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024 (H.R. 4368) would rescind the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s January 2023 change to the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program to allow certified retail pharmacies to dispense mifepristone as part of a medication abortion regimen.
