+ Add Updates to PreCheck Functionality

A new workflow option for Fill Station has been added to Prompt if Prechecked Needed. This option is located at Location > My Location > Workflow Options > Fill Station Options. 

These new workflow options related to PreCheck will increase workflow efficiency and help prevent mistakes.

+ Add Facility Name to Patient Quick Search Results

The Facility column has been added to the Patient Quick Search grid.

This change will allow the pharmacy team to use the Facility column to help confirm the correct patient selection.

+ Add NPI and AlternateID to the Facility Advanced Search Filters and Results Grid

The NPI and Alternate ID search filters are now available on the Facility Advanced Search grid.

A pharmacy with multiple locations may wish to identify prescribers, patients, and facilities using ID or License fields when creating reports and analyses. This practice can reduce confusion between profiles with similar names and reconcile naming variances for the same entity within multiple locations.

+ Therapeutic Interchange (TI) Updates

Multiple Therapeutic Interchange updates have been implemented, including: 

• Modifications to the Therapeutic Interchange (TI) page to allow pharmacies to associate TI plans with a facility. 
• The addition of a copy feature to allow pharmacies to copy a new TI plan from an existing one.  
• The addition of a Therapeutic Interchange Eligible indicator to Cycle Fill error checking to signify when previously verified orders are newly eligible for TI. 
• The ability to specify plans within the TI feature to support more restrictive state regulations.

+ Medicaid Secondary/Tertiary Copay Determination

The "Accepts Medicare D copays" field has been added to Medicaid plans to determine if copays are billable to them as a secondary or tertiary plan. This feature helps provide more efficiency to the pharmacy so claims are not rejected unnecessarily.

Cough and Cold Medicine Containing Phenylephrine to Come Off Shelves

CVS Health will remove from its shelves certain oral cough and cold products with phenylephrine as the only active ingredient, the U.S. pharmacy chain said. A panel of advisers to the U.S. health regulator last month refused to back the effectiveness of oral over-the-counter (OTC) medicines made with phenylephrine, which is widely used in cold and cough syrups.

Amazon Pharmacy to Offer Drone Delivery in Select Locations

Amazon Pharmacy is currently testing a new drone delivery system in select locations, including College Station, TX. For no additional cost, customers in College Station can get their prescription medications dropped outside their door via Amazon’s drone delivery service within 60 minutes of placing their order.

Meet Richard Stryker

“It runs in the family.” Truer words have rarely been spoken when talking about Richard “Rich” Stryker and Bayshore Pharmacy. An independent pharmacy in the Atlantic Highlands community, Bayshore opened in 1964 with owners Richard P. Stryker and Joseph McDonald. Eventually, Rich took over the family business and has been the owner ever since.
